Hey everyone! I'm curious about what people think of the two most popular cloud storage solutions out there - Google Drive and OneDrive. Both are backed by solid ecosystems, and offer solutions for prosumers. Which one do you prefer, and why?

Positive argument for “OneDrive”

Security, accessibility, interface

Easy access to files. You can access them anytime, anywhere and from any device. High security - no one can access your OneDrive account without your credentials. Its security is so high that you can encrypt the file he or she shares with you, so you have to have a decryption key to access it. User-friendly interface - you can work on different devices, both Android and Windows, it's not hard to use. And finally, speed - compared to other alternatives, OneDrive is really faster and more efficient.

Positive argument for “OneDrive”

Integration with Windows and Office

0

I like its integration with Windows and Office, and the fact that I can pay for onedrive + office right away. Also a great amount of space compared to price and overall performance. If you pay for Windows, you get 1TB of storage. OneDrive has very nice syncing features. Data syncs automatically, even if created offline, it will slowly sync in parallel in the background when you're online.

Negative argument for “OneDrive”

Not a very popular service

0

I don't really like the fact that Onedrive is not a very popular service. Many of our clients and business partners use Google Drive rather than Onedrive services. This makes it difficult to share files and work together.

Negative argument for “OneDrive”

Too little memory in the free version

0

A negative aspect of Onedrive is the limited storage space. Unfortunately, if you think about today, 5 GB of storage is very little. Using the tool to store a large number of files is not possible with the basic plan, forcing the user to sign up for a premium plan or buy more storage.

Positive argument for “Google Drive”

Easy and safe to use, integration with other software

0

Google Drive has a great interface, easy to use. Once you look at it, everyone will know what to do. You can log in from any device as long as you have an Internet connection. It is very easy to share files with people, just send an invitation to the user or create a link to share files. Powerful compatibility with files of different extensions (audio: wav, mp3 - video: MPEG4, AVI - image: bmp, png, jpeg) and even Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Also a huge plus is the integration with so much software, it really saves our time.

Positive argument for “Google Drive”

Easy to upload and share files, there is a free version

0

Google Drive is intuitive file management. My organization produces videos for many local non-profits, and I upload and share links from Google Drive to video files almost every day. The way the files and folders are organized is better than any other service. The files also download and process faster than other sites I've used. I would say the MOST important thing to me is reliability. The drive always works, and I need it to. It's the backbone my organization is holding on to when clients need links to videos so we can share feedback. Also, I like that there is a free version for personal use with up to 15GB

Negative argument for “Google Drive”

Difficulty in downloading large files, you can't visit the drive without an Internet connection

0

Sharing larger files is difficult with Google Drive. It is not possible to share presentation files larger than 100 MB. You cannot visit your drive without an Internet connection. The main disadvantage of Google Drive that I have seen is that, unlike mega file sharing platforms, it is slower in some areas and has limited downloadability. Also, the file support on Google Drive for large files is currently quite low.

Negative argument for “Google Drive”

I cannot see the size of a specific folder, which makes it difficult to clean up the disk

0

Sometimes I have difficulty seeing the size of the space (in MB or GB) occupied by a particular folder. When I need to clear space, it would be better if I could immediately see which folder is in use, how much file space is being used. Often the "size" line next to a folder does not show the value.
